In view of the ravages of bunchy top in the Northern Rivers banana plantations, the Tweed Fruit-Growers’ Association has decided to send two delegates to Fiji to inquire into the industry there, specially in regard to the reported disease resistant plants and their possible introduction into Aus-tralia.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT DEFEATED. MELBOURNE, July 17. In the Assembly last night Mr. Prendergast moved an amendment to the Address-in-Reply, which was accepted as a no-confidence motion. After a spirited debate the Ministry was defeated by 43 to 16. Tho Assembly then adjourned. REJECTION OP AWARD. SYDNEY, July 17. The Sydney sub-branches of the Federated Engine-Drivers’ and Firemen’s Association decided to instruct the Federal officers to refuse to accpt the new award, and it was decided to form a. council of action to draw up demands to bo presented to the employers.
