The FranlcJin Institute, Philadelphia, has presented to Sir Ernest Rutherlord of Cambridge .University, Ithe hranklin medal in recognition of his discovery of the prineinle or radio-, activity. A London cable message savs that among those presented to the King at an Empire Parliamentary gathering was Mr James Craigie, formerly member for Timaru in the New Zealand House of Representatives. ‘ Sir Donald McGavin, Dr. J. S. Elji°c'G .Sir H. L. Ferguson, Sir James G. u ilson, Mr M. Fraser, Lady Luke, the Hon. W.. H. Triggs, and Mr F. IV. MacLcan have been appointed members of the Board of Health. The death of Mr Christopher Codrington Prideaux occurred at his residence, Belt Road, New Plymouth, on Saturday. Mr Prideaux was born in the Barbados, West Indies, and was the eldest son of the rate Rev. W. H. Prideaux, who was for many years headmaster of Codrington College, Barbados. The late Mr ■ Prideaux arrived in New Zealand in 1894, settling in Taranaki, in various parts of which he farmed until he retired in 1914, owing to failing health. Mr Prideaux was 62 vears of age, and is survived by a widow and three sons. A number of changes affecting officials of the Health Department are announced. Dr. McKibbin, medical officer in charge of health in the Otago district, is to he transferred to Wellington shortly as director of the uuhlic hygiene division, relieving Dr. Watt of that office. Owing to the lengthv sick leave of Dr. Frengley, Dr. Watt'will act as deputy director-general of health. Dr. J. H. Crawshaw, who has been assisting in Otago, has been appointed actingmedical officer of health in that district. Dr. Chesson, assistant medical officer at Auckland, is to be transferred to Wellington as medical officer of health in conjuotion with Dr. Findlav.
