KAPONGA.
QUEEN CARNIVAL. Another highly successful function in connection with the Queen Carnival was held last evening, when approximately 80 dancing couples were in attendance at the ball, held in the Town Hall in aid of the city queen candidate.- Commencing at 8 o’clock last evening, dancing was continued until two this morning, when the last waltz concluded one of the most enjoyable functions which have been organised by the city candidate’s committee. Music for the programme dances was furnished by the Opunake jazz orchestra, extras being played hv the Aliases Bennie, Melville and Guy and Air AT. Power. A waltzing competition was won by Mrs and Mr Alec. Guv, the judge being Air D. Ri’iggs. The floor was in good dancing condition, and the supper confections pleased even the most exacting of patrons. Alessrs W. Melville and B. Joyce officiated as Al.C.’s. A euchre party and dance in aid of the sports candidate is being held in the Convent schoolroom this evening. Unusual interest is being centred in this event, as the result of the first count of the positions of the candidates is to bo announced.
