SHIPPING.

TOO IRREGULAR. INJURIOUS TO PRODUCERS. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, July 10. Ihe contention that one. of the most d imental influences at present operating against New Zealand produee oh the London markets was the irregular shipping arrangement was voiced in the House to-day. by Mr. W.,D. Lysnaf (of Gisborne). One month the market was •starved, simply because the shipping companies, which were makino- such huge profits were perfectly careless ahout regular deliveries. He was not in favour of State shipping, but what was wanted wa s a producers’ line, subsidised not by State money but by money raised directly rrom the producers by a levy of 3Jd on. every carcase of meat, 2s on every : bale of wool. and Is. on every box of butter or orate of cheese. Such a line would ensure the regular arrival of ships at London, and that alone would reduce the losses of the Dominion dairy producers by at least 90 per cent He expected the Premier would thi s session give the House an opportunity of determining whether or not the siigo- es ted levy should be imposed for the purpose of establishing a producers’ line of steamers. Trusts and combines were also operating against the producers of the Dominion, and he was convinced the influence of trusts was inside the Meat Board as well as outside it. So strongly did he feel on this point that he was convinced the Meat Board would neveifulfil its proper functions until the personnel was fhannred, and for that reason he asked the Governmetn to remove Mr. David .Topes from the hoard. He had made charges against Mr Jones and Mr. Jones had written his reply’ hut a.s the matter was in the hands i>f the Government he could say no more about it at present'.
