PLAY IN AMERICA. NEW YORK, July 8. At the St. Louis national clay court championship, third round, Schlesinger defeated T. E; Hackney (Fortworth), 6—3, 6 —3; and Tilden defeated Carl Meyer (Kansas City), 6—2, 6—4. In the doubles, first round, Sehlesinger and Chaplin defeated Epstein and Prohliehstein, 6—3, 2—6, 6—o, 6—3. Patterson has not entered for the tournament.
