Marcu Beza, narrowly escaped death in the Legation at Kensington, when a compatriot young student, whose .request for assistance was refused, drew a revolver and fired two shots point blank. The consul, by grabbing the revolver, deflected the aim, but the flash from the revolver singed liis hair. A desperate struggle followed, and the legation officials rushed to the consul’s assistance, but the student was tremendously strong, and it took five men to overpower him.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
