ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
SUICIDE AT WESTMERE. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WANGANUI, July 9. A man named Gordon- Stuart, aboutwhom little is known locally, and who had worked for Mr Chadley, farmer, of Westmere, since June 5 last, attempted to take his own life yesterday morning by cutting his throat with a razor. He was discovered shortly afterwards, aim was promptly attended by Dr. Hutson, who ordered bis removal to the. AVangamii .Hospital, .where he succumbed to his wound at 2.10 o’clpck. So far as can .he ascertained, • the deceased wa,s between do and 40 years'of age, and was a returned soldier.’ it is believed that his parents -.resided in Tasmania. Aii inquest will be held. . WOUND IN THE THROAT. WELLINGTON, July 9.Denis Lynch, believed/ to be a stranger to Wellington, was found last evening in Mercer Street covered with blood from an apparently sell-in flic-tod wound in the throat.. The hospital authwvities consider he has a good chance ■of recovering. The man stayed at a bote! in. the city on Monday, but on going yesterday to re-engage bis '.mom he found that someone else had taken it in the meantime. ITi.s subsequent movements until lie was discovered in the street are unknown.
