THE WINTER SHOW.

GREAT CROWDS. FAVOURABLE COMMENT. The enormous croAvds which thronged the halls of the "Winter Show on Wednesday and Thursday from the opening in the morning until the closing hour—most of the ei-ening the crowds were so thick in some parts that progress rvas not by any means easy—provided the keenest satisfaction to the management. They naturally had feared there would, be a falling off in numbers after the record croAvds of lastyear ,especially as in other AA-inter shows a falling off in gates Avas experienced. So far two records have been broken, and Friday, though comparatWely a quiet day, saAv very satisfactory numbers present. One missed the huge attendances of school children, of last year, but these could hardly expect to be repeated. Still, there \vere large numbers present from local and outside schools. One ' small country school Avhich came in a body Avas Wcstmere, and all the children thoroughlv enioved the visit.

A feature which is also of special interest to the directors and manager is the general and cordial appreciation of visitors from abroad. The" Minister of Agriculture and his party, all the visiting Friesian breeders, and many others, some of whom ha vet not previously visited Hawera, but many of whom have seen other winter shows this year, all were most emphatic in their approval of the show generally, and many comments favourable to exhibitors and to the organiser are made by neonle from many other parts of the " Dominion. Some have gone so far as to affirm that in their opinion this show has taken the lead in the world of winter shows in New Zealand.

To-day the town was thronged with visitors, some of them to see,the show .and others the. football. The weather cleared this morning, and the show is benefiting largely by the influx 'of visitors. To-night is certain to see a huge crowd.
