MANGATOKI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FARMERS’ UNION BALL. t The efforts of the local Farmers’ Union in connection with theix annual hall were amply rewarded by the large and representative gathering which assembled last Friday evening. The hall had been tastefully decorated with ferns and greenery, which together with an array of coloured streamers and a show of farm produce presented a picture most pleasing to the eye. Congratulations to those responsible for their artistic, work in this connection. The social committee were untiring m their efforts, and they are to be complimented for providing everything possible for the evening’s'enjoyment. Mr H. Thrush as secretary is keen at his work, and the union is mast fortunate in having such an energetic organiser of their affairs. To him is due a very great share of praise for the success of this function. Boulton’s orchestra supplied the music for the dances, while Mr F. Willan carried out the duties of M.C. in a highly efficient manner. The evening was an outstanding success, and the event of the season.
May the Farmers’ Union continue to prosper, and there is no doubt with the live officials at its head—Mr W Carter (president), Mr H. Thrush (secretajy), and Mr C- E. McGuinness (treas-urer)—-it will become one of the leading branches of the union in Taranaki.
