NOT UNDESIRABLE, (BY TELEGRAPH —wprs ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, July 1. The Jewish youth, Paul Henry Duval, who cut a pathetic figure at- the Police Court on Friday last, charged with disobeying the demands of his superior officer on the Port Augusta and having attempted suicide, and whom Mr. Poynton, S.M., declined to allow to stay in the Dominion, appeared again before the Magistrate to-day. Duval appeared in a- new suit, smiling, Mr.. Gold stone, solicitor, said the shipping authorities were now quite prepared to allow Duval his discharge from the Port Augusta, and the captain said he was quite willing. Mr. Poynton said he at first thought tlie accused was an undesirable, but had since found he was not of this type. He would be discharged on both charges.
ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER. AUCKLAND, July I. John Edward Jenkinson, aged 22, was charged with attempted murder of his wife; also, that he assaulted his wife, causing actual bodily harm by cutting her throat with a razor. Sergeant Rawles said he understood the wife’s condition was not very serious. It was alleged that she was with her child when Jenkinson slashed her throat with as razor. Accused was of a violent nature. The second charge was withdrawn, and on the other the accused was remanded to July 8 without bail.
