The Americans, Norris and Williams, beat Colonel and Dudley 6—3, 6 —o, 6 4, whiie in the second round of the doubles Kingscote and Gilbert disposed of the Indians, Hadi and Rutnam 6 —4, 6—3, 6—3.

In the second round Lyeett and Godfrey beat P. Allison and K. Fairley 6—2, 6—4, 4 —6, 6—l. England fared badly in the fourth round, her two chief hones being eliminated. Lacoste defeated Gilbert 6 —3, 6 —2, while Raymond outclassed Wheatley. Only Kingscote, who beat Jacob (India) 6—3, 6—3, 6—3. is left of the prominent players. Borotra had a terrific battle in defeating Spence 6—2. 14—12, 3—6, 6—o. The Americans, Washburn- and Williams, have entered the fifth round of the doubles.
