With the'return to Australia of Senator Wilson, who has been negotiating with the British Government regarding migration, it is expected that Mr. Bruce will shortly be in a position to ■announce the terms of the new agreement. If an agreement has been signed nearly £40,000,000 will be available for developmental work in the Commonwealth during the next decade. In its present form the agreement provides for the payment of half the interest by the British Government for a period of five years, and one-third of the interest for the following five. The Com mb nwe a Ith pays a quarter of the interest and the States themselves the remainder. The money will probably be raised at five per cent. SHOCKING TRAGEDY. ADELAIDE, June 28. A. shocking tragedy is reported from Bute. The young wife of E. Harvey, a local butcher, and their four months old child, were discovered in a house both dead from rifle wounds. Harvey was discovered in an adjoining paddock with a wound in his head. His condition. is not thought to be serious. The circumstances are unknown. FORTY-FOUR HOUR "WEEK. PERTH. June 28. The Minister for Public Works states that the Government has decided to restore the forty-four hour week in departments under his control. There is to be no loss in wages to employees.— Aus.-N.Z.
