PERSONAL ITEMS.
At a meeting of directors yesterday afternoon, Mr S. Palmer Jones was appointed manager of the Wanganui Herald Newspaper Company. Mr A. C. l’uist, who far the past three years lias been manager of the local branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company, ‘Ltd., at Wanganui, has been notified of his transfer to the head office of the company at Feilding. Mr Buist was for some time on the staff of- the Hawera Fanners' Co-operative Society. A Westport telegram says: Mr L. V. Carmine, secretary of the Buller Rugby Union for the past 13 years, and one of the selectors of the All Black team, who is under order of transfer to Wanganui in the railway service, was on Thursday the recipient of a wallet,of notes from the staff, and later-was entertained at a smoke concert by the White Star Club and presented with a suit case. Yesterday he was tendered a public farewell social, ’and was made the recipient of handsome tokens of public esteem. Mr Carmine is leaving for Wanganui on Monday to take up the position of relieving officer in the railway service.
