ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
*> — BLOOD POISONING. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) i . AUCKLAND, June 26. . A resident of Huia, Arthur Smith, died in the Auckland Hospital as the result of an accident on June 14. He was moving timber on Mr. J. Gordon’s farm when he sustained a gash from a rusty nail. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital on the following day suffering from blood-poisoning. DEATH OF FOOTBALLER.
AUCKLAND, June 26. A verdict of death due to hemorrhage of the brain was returned by the coroner (Mr. McKeen, S.M.) at the adjourned inquest into, the death of William Searff, who collapsed while watching a. football match at Victoria. Park on Saturday. James Ball stated that lie had not particularly noticed Searff during the game in which he had played, which was a particularly clean one. No complaints were made and there were no stoppages on account of any mishap. The coroner said it was evident that the deceased man received during the play a blow which was responsible lor the hemorrhage, although ‘ l f _ nnght not have noticed ”it at the time, and no signs of any external injury were revealed at the no*tmortem. 1 STR A XGE MIS A D YEN T'URE _ DUNEDIN, June 27.
