WOULD NOT BUCK.
USE OF CRUPPER. TEST OF HORSEMANSHIP. COMPLAINT BY AUSTRALIAN. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, June 26. The Daily Express reports an incident which caused much excitement. It says Mr. Thompson, mounted on Heatllight, one of the best broncos, used a large Australian stock saddle, with a crupper under the tail, and when lie found the animal did not buck he dismounted and returned to the pens indignant. He said : “I cannot help it if these horses of theirs won’t buck when ridden with a crupper. Our horses m Australia, will. .t was told I cdukl use any saddle, and the one 1 used won t -stay on any horse’s back without a, crupper.” Mr. Tex Austin, the rodeo manager, said: “You -cannot win the money for the bronco- bucking competition unless the horse bucks. None- of our horses will buck with a crupper; they cannot ppssibly do it. * Mr. Thompson can ride the- same horse with his saddle or any other without a crupper and he would not stay on if he had both hands •!i • i Canadian an d an American nde t,ie same horse- with Mr. lhqmpson’-s saddle, so there is no complaint.
