Police Court* u negro named Archi Walter Taylor, alias Janies Aithur Pollard, aged 35, at present serving five years’ imprisonment for theft, was charged with, bigamy. It was alleged ]j. e married Alice May Spry at Collmgwood, Melbourne, on October 7, 1912, and at Wellington 0.11 January 21, 1919, he went through the form of marriage with. Annie Elizaletli Mitchell. Accused pleaded not guiliv, and was committed for trial. CHARGES AGAINST BANKRUPT. AUCKLAND, Jane 26. Accused pleaded not guilty. POWER FOR MARLBOROUGH. , BLENHEIM. June 26. The Marlborough Power Board, after a full discussion on reports from engineers on the Clarence River hydroelectric scheme, with a view of including Kuikoura in the scheme, decided in favour of the Waihopai scheme It is estimated to cost £300,000, and the secretary was instructed to take the necessary steps to secure Government sanction of the proposal. It will also bo necessary to obtain the suction of the ratepayers. £75 FOR LIBEL. INVERCARGILL. Jiine 26. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day J. R. Hamilton claimed, and was awarded, £75 damages against the Southland News Company for a libel contained in n letter published on the eve of the election of the Dairy Control Board.
