Mr. Gordon Fraser lias been elected president of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand .Rennet Company, Mr. J. B. Murdoch, was elected chairman of directors. A London cable says the. University of London has conferred the title of professor of surgery on a New Zealander, Dr. Choyce, in respect of his appointment as director of the surgical unit at the university college hospital school. A very pleasant gathering took place at Inglewood this week, the occasion being a presentation and farewell to Mr. H. W. Brown, who has the honour of being one' of the selected 29 to represent the All Blacks in their British tour. General Sir A. J. Godley, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., who has for so long been General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the British Army of the Rhine, has now been appointed General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, in succession to General Sir AY. N. Congreve, Y.C., K.C.8., M.V.O. Lieutenant-General Sir J. P. Du Cane, K. 0.8., has been selected to succeed General Godley with the British Army of Occupation on the Rhine. Mr V . A. Guy, of Mataou, has received a letter from the New Zealand Rugby Union advising him that the union has placed on record a resolution thanking him for his services in connection with the selection of the 1924 New Zealand team. The letter also, stated tliat a studio portrait of the team would be forwarded to Mr Guy as a permanent memento of his good work.
