V TROUBLE IN MOROCCO. PUBLIC OPINION EXCITED. ■ BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received June 26, 9.35 a.m. LONDON, June 25. The Daily Express Barcelona correspondent says that public opinion is highly • excited over the Moroccan trouble. The position of Dictator Riviera has been shaken, and there are rpmours of General Weyler becoming Premier. A section of the army is protesting strongly against the decision to evacuate advanced posts in Morocco, and Colonel Frianco, commanding the Foreign Legion, refuses to leave hi-s positions and threatens to march on Melilla with the troops. When General San juju was ordered to arrest Colonel Frianco nothing was done. Meanwhile General Berrenguer is being tried for responsibility for the defeats of the Spanish troops in Morocco in 1921. Charges against General Navarro have been withdrawn. The public is convinced that if the Moroccan operations continue the Spanish Treasury will be exhaustd.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
