It was nice to read, says the "Wanganui Herald, in the papers during the past week that the Borough Council of Xew Plymouth had resolved, at the Mayor’s instance, to tender its congratulations to Wanganui and its people on the progress which had resulted in this town being elevated to the rank and designation of a city. This is the first and. we think, the only congratulation which has reached Wanganui from any of its sister towns. Not that we imply that the latter begrudge our progress; probably the matter has been overlooked. Still, New Plymouth’s congratulations ought to give Wanganuiites special.pleasure, inasmuch as the Taranaki capital is fast becoming a strong rival to Wanganui. Ladies!
