TRAINS HELD UP.

SLIP ON MAIN TRUNK. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION., 1 TAIHAPE, June 25. A slip on the railway near Mangau’eka yesterday delayed the trains from the south, the express being held up for over an hour. A lug slip came down in a cutting just south of Mataroa station this morning, and the tram which left Taihape had to return. The express has been held at Mataroa for over five hours. Some of the passengers came on to Taihape by car, and breakfasted here. The department had arranged for passengers to breakfast at lain ape, but the train had not arrived by noon, and the passengers will now probably have to lunch here when the tram arrives. It was expected that the slip would he cleared in three hours, but trouble was experienced on account of the wet nature of the soil. The line south of Taihape is now clear, and the rain has ceased.
