Friday evening by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Association, though somewhat marred by the very inclement weather, and by the counter-attractions at Auroa, Kaponga, and, chiefly, the iancy dress school ball at Kapuni pioved a most sociable and enjoyable outing. The chairman of the assoelation, m opening the entertainment-, uianked those present- for turning out on such a rough evening, ami referred to the unfortunate, fact- of- havinostruck an evening with so many counter-attractions on. However, he concluded there was no reason why they shouW not have ,a good time, even lr they were few in numbers. The evening was run in the usual manner ot dancing interspersed with songs, the music for the dances was played m their usual good' style by the Lancastrian Orchestra, consisting of Messrs Rim T-- r .- (p \ anoj ’ W ’ Turner and A. y (violins) and J. .Riley (cornet). i l - J 3 by Misses Symes and Hey and Messrs. Time and again it- has looked like improving, but always it lias been only a flash in the pan, and rain lias come again in- a *€w hours. A spell of dry-weather would lie welcomed by all animals and human's as well. “To err is human, to forgive divine.
