H. Gillingham declares that Parkin has found a novel way of committing suicide as a professional cricketer. Douglas considered that Parkin’s articles were always amusing. This one was in particularly humorous vein. POOTBALL. THE LEAGUE GAME. ENGLAND DEFEATS AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY. June 23. .England defeated Australia by 22 points to 3 in the first .Rugby League tost match. The first half was closely contested, the half-time score being: England 4, Australia 3. The second half was much faster, but was marred by rough play, the Australians being the- principal offenders.
