ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

AXJHOA B v. MANAIA. The return match between Auroa B and 'Manaia took place at Auroa on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Manaia by one goal to nil. Weather conditions were anything but favourable for good football. A heavy shower previous to the match made the ground very sticky, and in consequence the ball was heavy. Jack Hartley won the toss, there being no advantage to either side, as the day was calm. Muggeridge kicked off for Manaia. The game was very evenly contested throughout. Neither side seemed to have any advantage, the ball being confined to midfield mostly. The hacks on both sides were safe. Edwards and Betteridge played well together. Budd in goal had little to do. The Manaia forwards broke through on several occasions and tested Shearin in goal, who. was saving well. At half-time there was no score. On changing over both teams made strenuous efforts to get through, until Thatcher secured and sent in a long stinging shot which beat the goalie low down, registering the only goal of the match. Auroa livened up after this, hut could not break through the Manaia defence. On several occasions Manaia forwards got through and tested the Auroa defence, and at times nearly scored, hut could not get past Shea rin. For Manaia, Edwards played a safe game, as did Jock Shearin for Auroa.
