TARANAKI RUGBY UNION.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Management Committee ol the Taranaki Rugby Union was held at Stratford last" 'evening. I here were present: .Messrs J. McLeod (chairman), W. B. Fearon (president). Jj. Saunders. A. Davis, A. O. Casey, J. Goodwin. E. H. Young' A H i-apps. Guy, F. H. "Whyte, A. p' Neilson L. J. Furrie, and the secretary nb. E. Neilson). LOSS OF JERSEYS. Referring to the recent visit of the representative team to Wanganui, tne chairman intimated that the expenses had amounted to £ls 13s 6d. Mr Davis (joint manager) stated thajt the behaviour of all players had been exempiary, but lie regretted having to report that the jerseys had Oeen lost or stolen during the return iournev. Mr Goodwin-referred to similar losses last season, aiiu considered some action should be taken to guaid against recurrences. ° "Hie chairman stated that it might be considered reasonable to aliow pmvers to retain the jerseys at the end ot the season, but they could not afford to lose trace oi them at its commencement. Mr Young thought that the union should investigate the matter, and instanced a case where the Wellington Umon had brought legal pressure to bear upon a player who had left the district with a representative je/rsev belonging .to the union. In answer to an inquiry, Mr Davis stated that the jerseys had been left tied in a bundle in the. bus, and that be had been informed that a. certain player had been seen removing one of them. It .was decided to circularise! the players informing them of the loss, and stating that certain information was m the possession of the union, stfid that unless the matter was cleared up immediately further action would be taken, lo guard against future losses, it was subsequently resolved that players be called upon to sign for jerseys" on receipt of them, and that" the" value of any not returned be debited ;to the defaulters. PROTESTS. The Kawera Club protested against the \\ annate Thirds being awarded the match against the Hawera Thirds on June 14,,0n the grounds that NVaimate nad played three players over age.—The matter was referred to the Waimate Club, for explanation. , A protest was received from the Cardiff Club against the action of Stratford in playing K. Algar (a. senior; m the Stratford-Cardiff junior match on June 19, the letter pointing out that according to Rule li, a player could not ue reinstated after the commencement ot the second round. The chairman intimated that Algar’s reinstatement had previously been tentatively -approved.—-As this had been done in error, it was decided to uphold the protest and have The match replayed. Mr Young subsequently gave notice of motion that Rule 11 be reviewed. The Alton Club protested against thei action of the P'atea Club in playing W. Tangipou (a senior) ni the Alton-Patea junior game on June 7. A subsequent telegram "withdrew the protest.—A hitter from the Patea Club stated that Tangipou had not played in senior football this season, and pointed out that his reinstatement to junior grade had been applied for.—lt was decided to ignore the withdrawal of the protest, ancj that, as the player had not been reinstated, the match he- awarded to Alton. The Opunake Club protested against thei action of Waimate in playing Ruru Sain and J. Adamson in the' OpunakeWaimate junior match on May 31. —A letter from the Waimate Club stated that Adamson had never played in senior grade for the chib, and pointed out that W. JJawe (Iluru Sam) bad been reinstated’ from senior to first junior.—lt was decided that, as both players were entitled to play as juniors, the protest could not be upheld. The reinstatement of IV. Haws (Ruru Sam) was cancelled, and it was resolved to write to the Waimate Club strongly disapproving its action in giving Ruru’s name as Ha we when applying for the reinstatement, the player being unknown under the latter name to tha union officials. A telegram was received from the Okaiawa Club alleging incompetence on the part of the referee, and requesting that a full inquiry be held .into the circumstances attending the/ ordering off of players in the Okaiawa-Ingle-wood match on the 21st inst.—lt was decided to request the Okaiawa Club to submit any charges in writing for consideration at a meeting to be held on Thursday, 26th inst., and also that the referee be notified and invited to attend. HEPRESEXTATIVE GAMES. It fvas decided that arrangements be made for the New Fiymoutn Technical High School and iiawera Technical High to play a curtain-raiser to the J. ai anaki^\\e! lington match at Hawera on July 2nd. Also that an endeavour be macl e to arrange for the larauaki-W anganui fixture to be played at Hawera during show week, the Prinmiy Schools Union to be invited to aiiunge for a North v. South schools representative match as « curtainraiser. It was decided to offer the North Auckland Union a Saturday match at New Plymouth during their tour, with a guarantee ol £4O towards their expenses, and that the King ' Country, l lorowhenua, and Bush Unions be communicated with it they anticipated sending teams on tour. WEDNESDAY CLUBS. A letter was received from H. I). .Hughes (Nonnanby), applying on Iveb.ili of Wednesday playing, clubs'for affiliation a a a sub-union. -Mr Goodwin pointed out that seven clubs would be affected. Reinstatements and transfers were confirmed as follows:—G. Davies (Tuknpa) senior to first junior; E. Hoffman and A. Smith (Star) senior to first junior; H. Hill (Star) first to second junior; |i. }}. Grayling (Ijepper-ton-ex-Clilton) senior to first- junior; G. Graham (Opunake )transfer to Hawera. . Tho chairman read a recommendation received irom ihe Inglewood and Stratford Clubs that the dlib boundaries be the same as the county boundaries.—The previous resolution fixing the boundary was rescinded and the - ecom men cla ti ou a dopted . Following a discussion regarding insurance, it was decided to insure players for representative matches only on the same lines as last year, the necessary arrangements being left to the chairman and secretary. The selection of a suitable memento for presentation to the; three Taranaki players included in the All Black touring team was left to the chairman. In view of the required attendance of a large number of players at the

territorial training camp at Waverley, it was decided to postpone first junior fixturcy; for the 28th inst. The Stratford Club notified that- the 71 °t profits from the Dewar shield competition amounted to £3l.
