The secretary of the Lawn Tennis Association, in an o/fical letter to the Press, says that owing to' the increased popularity of tennis eensequent on the large attendance at tournaments, a serious difficulty has as men in regard to applause. It s most e.is:concerting and unnerving for players to- hoar applause at tlie wrong time. In the interests of the game lie appeals to audiences not to applaud double faults, rallies. or such incidents as when a hall hits the top of the net and falls over, being imtakeable. Finally, he appeals to spectators not to confine their applause to one competitor.
