Beekeeper:; visiting Palmerston North Y inter Show udio Mere deeply Interested in the honey exhibits would lie M'ell advised to visit the exhibition of the Agricultural Department, which contained a, variety of grades, and represented every class suitable for export, and which would serve as a guide to .exhibitors at future shows, giving producers a good intimation of M’hat urns required. In commenting upon the present season, Air Karp said thal in the Alnmiuatu and YVairarapa districts the period had been a little below normal, though Taranaki had experienced an exceptional season, and quite above the average of former years. Large quantities had been exported from that district, possibly constituting a record lor the Wanganui port. “Of coursed’ Air Earn said, “the beekeepers have to lace disease, hut this is being well attended to by the Department inspectors for the various districts, who- advise as to the best course to adopt in the different cases. During last season additional assistance Mas given to the industry by the Department in the appointment of 23 extra, inspectors, who u-ere- engaged by the Government specially for inspection work. Three of these inspectors Mere employed in the' Wairnrafin district, and the uhole of the apiaries there u-ere inspected twice during the season, while the "Waikato- and Southland .district,.-, uere also extensively covered. “It is anticipated that the scheme of employment of outside beekeepers as apiary inspectors uill be continued this year, for it is found that in all the districts in which it is carried out a marked decrease in disease has been recorded, resulting in -a greater exportaide production.
