MATAPU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a fair attendance at the usual fortnightly euchre and dance held on Tuesday last. The wet night no doubt prevented many from attending. Winners of the progressive euchre were Mrs. B. Cole and Mr. Jas. Naughton. Supper was provided by the committee. Dance music was supplied by Air. K. Sharp. Extras were played bv Mrs A. Bootten. Air. W. Guy acted as AI.C. The hall committee are holding a plain and fancy dress ball on Friday in aid of the hall funds, and it is being looked forward to with a deal of interest. All particulars will be advertised in the Star.
A meeting of the Tennis Club was held on Monday evening last. Mr. It. Hooker presided over a fair attendance oi residents. Accounts for pavment \vere passed, and, matters relating 4 the tennis court were discussed, "and the meeting adjourned with an intimation from the chairman of the annual meeting, which is to be held on Monday evening, the 23rd' and a request, ior a good attendance.
