ATHLETICS.
The ‘‘find” in American amateur athletes is Loren Murchison, of whom the following is written by a critic The National A.-i.U. sprint champion is one of tfc© cleanest living athletes in the game, intelligent ana courageous. He has studied racing form and worked hard, until to-day he represents almost perfect Tunning form over the short distances. That, and a racing heart that makes him finish most brilliantly when he is pushed the hardest, have made Murchison great. He is catlike at the barrier, and settles into his best racing stride with no waste of time or energy, and he runs as smoothly as a.machine might travel. His form through the stretch is beautiful to watch, as his knee action is good and his stride one that never deviates from the straight line that is the shortest distance between the two points. Murchison holds the American indoor record for the 60yds dash at 6 1-osec, and the 220yds in 22 3-osee, and has equalled the 100 yards record of lOsec, and the 300yds of 31 1-osec.
