ITALIAN CRIME.
MURDERED DEPUTY. MATILATED BODY. -K CABLE —PRJCSa ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGH"> LONDON, June 20. It is stated in Italian circles in London that the body of Matteotti, the murdered deputy, was so mutilated’that the authorities interred it secretly, fearing the results if the facts were known publicly. The Italian Socialist leader (Signor Caporali) stated at a Socialist meeting at Paris that the body was pierced by nineteen bullets and five knife thrusts, and literally crushed with bludgeons. The Rome correspondent of the Daily Express says Farinelli’s arrest was the sequel to the_arrest of a notorious character whom the police call Otto Chirszel, although he has five aliases and as many nationalities. It is alleged that Farinelli sent monev to Chirszel, who came from Naples’to join Dumini’s murder gang and took part in the kidnapping.
The Daily Herald says Chirszel declares that the aim of the kidnappers was to get possession of the_«iocuments, Matteotti to he kept a. prisoner in a villa until the Parliamentary session. He owed hi.s death to his strenuous resistance. Tlie Herald comments on Signor Mussolini cynically, saying that, in overthrowing his closest friends, the day of Fascism is over.
