RECTOR GRANTED A DIVORCE. IT OABLX— PRI3B ASSOCIATION —COPYRTiJH! LONDON, June 18. On the grounds of his wife’s misconduct with a man named Mitchell, James Sykes, the rector of Muggington Church, in Derbyshire, was granted a divorce. The petitioner gave evidence that he was married in 1907 and had four children. About 1915 he noticed familiarity between his wife and the co-respon-dent. Petitioner enlisted for active service, and before leaving for France placed his wife and the co-respondent on their honour to conduct themselves properly. When petitioner returned in January, 1918, his wife declined to live with him. He heard she had given birth to a child. For the sake of his children he had been anxious to avoid divorce proceedings, but hi.s wife gave birth to a. second child in 1922. whereupon he consulted the Bishop of Southwell. who agreed that there was no alternative to a divorce.
