PROHIBITION.
THE POLITICAL ASPECT. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, June 19. A large deputation from the New Zealand Alliance met a number of members of Parliament this morning to discuss licensing legislation, Mr Falkiner, president , of the local Prohibition Committee, said that every candidate at next election would be expected to make some statement regarding his stand on the liquor question, and his statement would be published by the Alliance, which wished the issues confined to continuance and prohibition. . Mr Harris, M.P., said an honourable understanding existed between the liquor party and the prohibitionists that there should be the third issue of State control. Mr Falkiner said this had repeatedly been denied. Mr Lee, M.P., said he woud state his views when he knew what was proposed. The policy of the Labour Partv would be his policy. .Jordan said the Labour Party ima no policy on the liquor question. Personally, he favoured a hare majority °? 't. strai gkt-°ut issue, but if a section l I*l P® o Pk thought corporate control should be submitted he was prepared to support a transferable vote. , Bart ram said he was not a. prohibitionist, but the principles of democracy would always come first with him.
