SHOPLIFTERS.
NO MORE LENIENCY. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, June 18. “This is a warning to shoplifters and also the last time that probation will be granted in such offences in this court,” said Mr Poynton, S.M., in the Police Court to-day. He was dealing with the case of a woman who admitted seven charges of theft of goods, totalling £7 13s, from three firms. The accused was admitted to two years’ probation, ordered to make restitution, and pay 30s costs.
