A great deal of keenness was evinced in the road cycle .race which was hold under the auspices of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club this afternoon. There were over twenty starters, and a good number of people gathered to watch them leave the niark opposite the White Hart Hotel. At a meeting of the directors of the Hawera. County Electric Light Co. held to-dav it was resolved, as from July 1, to abolish the charge of sixpence per month rent on each meter.
