STRATFORD RACING CLUB.
MONTHLY MEETING. At the last regular monthly meeting of the geueral committee of the Stratford Racing Club there were present : Messrs S. Pitt (chairman), H. E. Abraham. W. P. Kirkwood, J. B. Richards, J. Fredric, A. Stewart, V. Smith, D. J. Malone, and A. W. Budge. Mr. Frederic reported: The club’s solicitor advises that transfer of land (extra motor accommodation) is not yet complete; the matter of fencing has therefore been deferred. Mr. Abraham was empowered to procure a truck of totara posts from the Main Trunk mills. The tender of Messrs J. Davidson and D. Smith (£74) for construction of taxi track was accepted. It was resolved that no penalty be inflicted upon Mr. C. Speck, contractor, re ten days’ delay in completing contract (improvements west end earth work), and that his deposit of £7O be returned. Mr. Horner was empowered to construct drain for the disposal of storm water.
Mr. Horner reported that he had accepted a tender fox* the construction of Tybalt Street. The matter was fully discussed, and it was resolved that Mr. Horner’s attention be directed to the fillings and wateV-tables before the work is finally passed by him. The fencing of Tybalt Street was deferred. In connection with the rule re winding up of the club, it was resolved that the matter be deferred until next meeting, when the chairman will report re action taken by the Taranaki Jockey Glub and Egmont Racing Club. Certain sundry debtors re nominations and acceptances were given seven days’ final notice, failing payment their names to he placed on the unpaid forfeit list. It was resolved that all sundry debtor accounts outstanding in respect of season 1921-22 be written off as bad debts. It was resolved that M. Conza’s application for trainer’s license be forwarded to the district committee without recommendation, and attention be directed to the fact that Conza has not resided in Stratford during the past six months. J. F. Butler’s application for trainer’s license was forwarded to the district committee duly recommended. It was resolved that application for apprentice license for Muir Gray be recommended to the district committee and attention be directed to the fact that the first twelve months period of apprenticeship will not expire until October 15, 1924. Messrs Abraham and Malone were appointed representatives of the Stratford Racing Club in connection with the delegation to the. New Zealand Sports Protection League. A letter was received from the New Zealand Racing Conference requesting non-publication of information re profit derived from race meetings, their request being acceded to.
It was reserved that the membership fee of £1 l s be forwarded to the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand. The matter of improvements to Pembroke Road was deferred until the October meeting. Accounts amounting to £145 3s 7d were passed for payment.
