ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
GIRL FOUND DEAD. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, June 17. The dead body of Evelyn Thompson, a young domestic servant employed at Hataitai, was found by a visitor to the residence of her employers, who were away at the time. The visitor, looking through the kitchen ■window, saw the deceased lying on the floor near an open gas stove. Aid was: summoned and entry effected, but the servant was found to be dead. TWO MEN INJURED. PALMERSTON N., June 17, , A:S a. result of an accident while unloading transmission poles at Ashhurst for the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, J. Proctor lies in hospital in a dangerous condition with severe injuries to the head. A companion, ’J. Turner, sustained a compound leg fracture and minor injuries, and is progressing favourably. SUDDEN. COLLAPSE. PALMERSTON N., June 17. John Joseph Maurice Isaacs, aged 46, collapsed suddenly in the street at 9 o’clock this evening as he was returning from the Winter Show. He had not previously been in ill-health. He leaves a widow and five children.
