The voyage from Durban was marked by much unpleasantness, Rhodesian passengers raising the colour question, and the tension became most .acute till Australians and New Zealanders, sympathising with the Maoris, threatened to throw the Rhodesians overboard. After that there was less trouble. The Maoris had the second class quarters of the ship to themselves and did their own cooking.
