(A Correspondent.) , ( - > | ur Queen Carnival has now concluded, and was very successful. On tlie- night of the wind-up of the Bast Bud s efforts the music for the dance was supplied gratis by Mrs. and Miss Evans, of Knpongn, piano and violin respectively, - assisted by Mr. Spooner, Awatuna (cornet)' The dancers on this occasion, as on all past occasions during the East End carnival entertainments, were unanimous in their appreciation of the excellent music supplied by Mrs. Evans on the final night, June 5. Mr. A. E. Sadler, chairman of the East End Committee, m a few very appropriate words, extended to Mrs. Evans the gratitude of ins committee for having played right through the carnival free of charge-. Mrs. Sadler then presented Mrs. Evans v ltli six Boulton ware cups and saucers as a_ material mark of appreciation. Amidst loud and prolonged applause Mrs. Evans rose and suitably acknowledged the gift,. Miss Elsie Hey, East End candidate deserves great credit for the untirinoanti loyal assistance .she gave at all tunes .to her committee llurino- the campaign Being of a most cheerful anti just the right amount of the traditional British' grit, Elsie proved an it eal candidate, and her committee request her to accept their warmest thanks for the manner in which she so whole-heartedly threw her energies into the carnival campaign.
