Classes have been held at Manaia, Iliverlea, Opunako, etc., and all have been very successful. It is hoped to get a good class started in Hawera very soon, and with an instructor of Joe Thomal's accomplishments a great advance in the fistic art should be made.

Air R. Masters, M.P., has been urging the Minister of Railways to expedite the work in collection with the opening of the line between I'ohokura. and Whangamorhona. He has received a reply (says the Stratford Post) stating that the Public; Works Department Iras about forty men and a. train working from Wliaugamomona towards the tunnel, and the Railway Department has about thirty men and a, train south of the tunnel. Afore men than those at present employed cannot be worked to advantage, but the Minister assures Mr Masters that every effort, is being made to expedite the work, and it is expected that the line will be chared for the passage of trains within six weeks.
