Messrs. F. Mourie and J. Leslie were the only nominees for the two vacancies on the Waimate West County Council and have been declared elected to represent. the Waimate and Katipokonui Ridings respectively. Miss L. Hogan, who for the past four and a half years has been supervisor of the Marton Telephone Exchange, was fare welled, on leaving for Hawera, by a number of friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. Crazier. A presentation of a gold bangle was made to Miss Hogan by Mr. E. Manley, who expressed the appreciation of the citizens generally of the services rendered by the guest during her stay in Majrton. The recipient suitably responded. Miss Hogan has since taken up her duties at Hawera, to which exchange she .was promoted.
