The Sunday papers give prominence to the preference debate in the House of Commons this week, speculating on the fate of resolutions. The Sunday Times declares that Parliament ought to debate and settle the (question solely in reference to' the react ion of an adverse vote upon Imperial feeling and opinion. The main point is whether the Empire and its affairs are to be made_ the sport of British party politics.
The Observer says that Labour has its chance ; .to improve on the cheap catch words and irrelevant issues raised by the conventional controversy between tariffs and free trade. The Empire’s; trade itself is at stake. —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
