At a meeting of the general committee of the Egmont A. and P. Association on Saturday a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. R. B. Hamilton, and the late Air. George Easton (both members of the society) was passed. "
Ihe death of Airs., Caroline Hawker, aged 93, an old identity of New Plymouth, occurred at the residence of her daughter, Airs. F. C. Jury, Hine Street, yesterday. Airs Hawker arrived in New Plymouth from England about fifty years ago, and has resided here ever since. Her husband predeceased her. She has two sons and two daughters in New Plymouth, the latter being Mrs. F. C. Jury and Mrs Alartin. On Tuesday, at Auckland, Air and Airs James Boddie, for a long time resident in Eltham, celebrated their golden wedding. They were married in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on June 10, 1874. and arrived at New Plymouth 38 years ago in the AVairarnpa, which was subsequently wrecked on the Barrier. Air Boddie when here took great interest in local body work, and was particularly well versed in it. YYhen the Hon. AY. Carneross (now Sir Walter) was fighting hard against strong opposition to make a county town of Eltham, Air Boddie stood loyally by him, and gave him all the assistance lie could. There may he some people who are unable to appreciate the advantage that accrued to Eltham by the passing of the Eltham County Bill, hut there are others who know that it has proved of enormous advantage. In 1905 Air Boddie left Eltham to reside at Te Kuiti. He has been a successful man, and is now at the head of the Farmers’ Co-operative Association in Auckland.—Argus.
