RAILWAYMEN TO RESUME
ADMISSION BY LEADER
BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT A LONDON, June 13. -As a result of a late-hour decision, London’s unofficial, railway strike has ended, announces .tHe Daily Herald (the Labour paper). ‘ > Mr Akefiurst, one of the leaders, said: “We are beaten not so much by the companies as by the National union of Railwaymen. The position be^ore t^ie men was that if they did not return a lock-out would follow, and the whole sendee would close down. We are returnTng only to fight at no distant date.”
: The critical phase of the London underground dispute passed as the outcome of a meeting of the committee of the electrical trade union to consider an extension of the strike to all power station men. The meeting decided that, sd far as the electrical trade union is concerned, the strike should he called off and the meeting of the London District Committee to he held to-day will consider the whole position.
