Watkins was elected president and Mr. J. Findlay secretary. It was resolved to- request the Government to permit the introduction to secondary and technical schools of educational matters dealing with New Zealand industries. A resolution was passed expressing sympathy with those in the glass bottle industry and others in a similar position, who were struggling against overwhelming odds, and urging the Government to grant reasonable protection. It was asked further that protection in any class of bottles not yet manufactured be withheld until the local manufacturers are in a position to make adequate quantities, and the department of Industries had reported a duty should be imposed. The annual dinner was held to-night.
