MAIN HIGHWAYS.
MILEAGE DECLARED
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION 1 t WELLINGTON, June 13. In the nine North Island districts under the Highways Act 2954 miles of roads have been declared highways and 650 Government roads. The State assists in the construction and maintenance of the latter, hut they do not come at once within the main provisions of the Act. The figures for the South Island are 2524 and 534.
