A GIGANTIC TASK
NO SOCIALISTS IN CABINET
BY CABLE—PRISB ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON June 11.
In an interview’ with the Paris correspondent of the Daily Express, M. Herriot, the Radical Socialist leader, who is regarded as the next Premier of France, said: “We are assuming a gigantic task. The stitches have come out of everything. I have a list of my colleagues in my pocket. None of them are Socialists, hut the Socialists have promised me support. “My attitude towards Britain,” he added, “is to associate myself with the British Government, in order to put in hand the immediate application of the experts’ report. So far as Germany is concerned we favour drawing closer together and we shall do our best to bring about stable relations with her.” M. Herriot will announce his Cabinet immediately the new President is elected, and will, adjourn Parliament after the briefest debate in order to enable him to get in contact with the Allies. He hopes to go to London to see the British Premier (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald) at the beginning of next week. PARIS, June 12. M. Milleraiid proposes to resume his practice at the Bar like M. Poincare. He refuses to accept the unwritten law that the ex-President must sink into obscurity, and it is expected he will be returned to the Chamber in a few weeks as deputy for Meurthe, when he will become the Leader of the Opposition in the event of M. Poincare becoming leader of the Senate.
