HAWKE'S BAY CENTRE.

A meeting of the committee of the Hawke's Bay centre was held last night, Mr S. F. Haszard presiding. Correspondence was read from : W. G. Attack, secretary of the New Zealand Council, stating that a Press Ass'n. telegram recently announced that a boxing association had been formed in Napier, and that a competition had been held. He asked for full information on the subject.—Secretary to supply information asked for. W. G. Atack asking the Hawke's Bay centre to arrange to be directly represented on a deputation to wait on the Government early in December urging legal recognition of the governing body appointed by the associations, and. among other matters, to have a special definition of the powers of the police officers in connection with competitions. The objects of the deputation were approved and a delegate is to be appointed. H. H. McDougall (Napier), making application for the affiliation of the proposed Napier Amateur Boxing Association and enclosing copy of rules. —Secretary to write stating that the application would be forwarded to the New Zealand Council. W. Wennaud, Gus Devitt, and E. Hill wrote asking to be matched.— Received. The following were suggested for first consideration in the selection of matches for the contest to be held at Hastings on [anuary 28th. Tracey v Hunnings, Luckie v Devitt, Wannand v Crawford, and Wennand v Shields. The secretary reported that seven Hawke's Bay competitors (names published on Saturday) were leaving ito take part in the first contest (under the Wanganui Association to \ be held on the igth and 20th inst. j Accounts amounting to £4 10s 6d ! were passed for payment. Suggestions were made for the competitions at the contest to be held in Hastings on January 28th. Bill Lang has received a cable message from Sam Fitzpatrick in San Francisco, offering him £I2OO for a fight with Ketchel, win or lose, and £IOO expenses. Lang has accepted the offer and will leave Melbourne in January. The fight takes place in April.
