460 MEN PERISH IN THE FLAMES.

ATTEMPTS AT RESCUE ABANDONED.

(Received J5, 8.25 a.m.) New York, Nov. 14.

Advice from Spring Valley, Illinois state that it is estimated that 460 persons perished in the fire in the mine belonging to the St Paul company of Charry.

All attempts at rescue have been abandoned.
