Mr. Rndyard Kipling was once paid a shilling a word for a. story appearing in a cerfaui magazine, and this induced a young American to write to him and enclose a shillic,o- in his letter. 'Hearing that wisdom is being retailed at a shilling a word," wrote the youth with gentle sarcasm, <: I send a shilling For a sample.'' Kinhng kept the money order, and sent back the word "Thanks!" Grorgie: ''Say, ma, typewriting ain't like handwriting, is it?" Georgia's Mamma: "No, Georgie : why do von ask?" Greorgie : " ' Cause I heard papa down at his office sav to _tho typewriter girl: 'What a beautiful hand!' "
