J4ETHODISTS REFUSE THE COMPROMISE. PER PRESI> ASSOCLATON. Feildine, November 12. The Primitive Methodist Synod at concluied to-day. At a ipablic meeting, the following motion carried:—"That no legislation be satisfactory which does nor stake the issues at both local and Dominion option determinable by a ji Ihr majority, to take effect with least possible delay after the vote .-as taken, and this meeting appeals to the Alliance to make it very to the Government and Parliament that no compromise of the -jjfTt rights of people in these respects will be accepted by the No-license -3P*rty." WINE MERCHANTS NOT CONSULTED. - Cbristchurch, November 13. Referring to the telegraphed statement that certain wine and spirit merchants were not consulted with regard to the agreement between the trade and the New Zealand Alliance, Sir Joseph Ward said that he could not say anything about the statef fnent as he had not been connected with the negotiations.
