Kane, at Matann was destroyed by fire at mideighL The insurances are: £l5O the house and £SO on the furniture *a the State office. The theory is Ihe fire was caused by children's :dotlies on a line in front of the fireplace taking fire- The family were with difficulty.

Auckland, November 12

The Otahahu railway station was destroyed by fire toaight. The outbreak started in the mil room, and, there being practicalif no water supply available, the station staff and helpers were unable tA suppress the flames, though they managed with some difficulty to •prevent their spread to the goods tdieds. The station papers and some the furniture wete saved.
